A very fine soundtrack album of mid-1950s movie themes, released in April 1957 in mono sound only. The themes are delightful Fifties orchestral music which make great background easy listening.David Rose included two of his own compositions for film on this album, his theme composed for FORBIDDEN PLANET (MGM, 1956) which was discarded by the studio in favor of bringing in the electronic tonalities of Louis & Bebe Barron instead. Rose decided to go ahead and record this one in the studio in March 1956, and released it when the movie was released in April. It is the only piece of music he composed for the film which has survived.Rose's delightful theme "Pigeon" for Red Skelton's final theatrical film "Public Pigeon No. 1" (RKO, 1957) is a winner also.
