It amazes me when I look at people who review various cd's ,that it seems that there's always a reference or implied reference to "the past" and records and such that an artist previously released. Why? Am I the only person who does not bother to compare releases from one year to the next? What is the point? Each album that a particular artist releases is for this time, not yesterday and not tomorrow. And as usual I don't think this is any more noticeable then the good old Black Metal "scene".People who continue to Buy,download(illegally or otherwise),or get for free LP's/CD's of artists they KNOW they will not like is beyond absurd and a contradiction:of course you will have nothing positive to say!For example,I would not accept a Lady Gaga release for free or otherwise, because I will not like it.Now, as for this new Satyricon release,it's not there best work, No. However it does continue to push, and that's what Satyricon have always promised. Satyricon will push the metal boundaries, the "Black n'Roll" boundaries, and anyone who does not realize or accept that should really spend there time and ,presumably money, where they believe will be happier. The production is excellent. While tracks like "Tro Og Kraft" evoke memories of times from " the Shadowthrone" for example ,while "Nocturnal Flare" and "The Infinity of Time and Space" provide that raw and melancholic atmosphere that few acts can truly generate successfully as Satyricon does, these latter two songs will probably become live favorites in the not too distant future. The big gamble is "Phoenix" sung clean vocals by a Norwegian rock artist, with only a hint of Satyr Wongraven's vocals somewhere in the background.A big surprise but I am not too sure how positive this track maybe, even to me who seems to think it's my right to shit on other peoples opinions? No, I just don't understand why anyone would bother, wouldn't you rather review an LP/CD that you actually like?Again people are entitled to there thoughts sure, I just don't know why you want to bother wasting time and energy on it, I sure as hell don't!Listening to this album repeatedly defiantly helps, spending money, or downloading or accepting even as a gift or promo the work of an act or band you clearly do not like and then write a pointless review is utterly moronic, ridiculous and does not make you "true" nor "kvult" unless you mean a "true" or "kvlt" tosser!Acts like Satyricon helped create "True Norwegian Black Metal" etc. and they can destroy there own creations if that's how you see it.Again perhaps not Satyricon's best work, but it's better then 95% of the uninspired, boring, repetitive and contrived crap that comes out there days, where band XX or artist YY just follow the same old path set out before them.
