The debut album whatever's For Us of the singer/songwriter Joan Armatrading appeared in 1972 and was a big flop. However, she has since then successfully a large number of albums released and had them (modest) singlehits with Love And Affection and Rosie. Her albums were especially in homeland Great Britain (although they originally from West Indies) in the 1970s and 1980s. Lovers Speak is the first wholly new cd after what's Inside (1995), on various compilation CDs, the liefdadigheidscd produced by Anita Barbara Armatrading, MBE Lullabies With A Difference and the specially written for Nelson Mandela (and executed) number The Messenger after. Armatrading plays all instruments on Lovers Speak itself apart from the percussion and drums and they produced the album entirely themselves. The cd is especially rockgeoriënteerd and contains some pretty numbers, as In These Times, Prove Yourself and Ocean. Although Armatradings heyday in the past seem to lie proves them with Lovers Speak that she is still fine can write songs and has a beautiful voice.
