Had a copy still sealed that I bought back in the mid 1990's that I decided to part with. After seeing the prices commanded on this - I decided not to open it and was firm that I would just sell it. I sold it last year for 1/2 the price of some listings here. Crazy. I don't get it - I'll pick up on a different format or reissue someday. Not a priority though. I'm sure someone is very happy - hope they are enjoying my copy.

I have a sealed promo cd copy of this CD that came from the UK. It is in a cardboard cover and has “not for sell” on the cover and other stamps. I’ve just never opened it as I have a great cd version of this already that’s mint. I have over 2,000 Cds that are American made or Columbia House releases. I only have my vinyl, my imported Japanese mini lp CDs and newer Blu-Ray disc listed here. Too much trouble to list all of the CDs in my collection that are regular CDs, unless they are HTF or HDCDs.

My pressing, which if memory serves I bought in the mid-2000s, has a slightly different run-out code: 1-45759-1-SR1 and then something like KM@ATm. No DMM. Was there a second pressing of this?

It's KG@ATM. Kevin Gray at AcousTech Mastering. Looks like it came out around 2010: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/tom-petty-wildflowers-vinyl-opinions.215887/

Where? I don't see anything anywhere about a reissue coming.

This one is a prime example of greed in the marketplace. Ok,so some albums hardly exists! So the market sets the price and all that! Sure thing. But for some reason - despite this album being reissued as part of the 2nd Complete Albums box last year, and despite the number of de faco for sale copies of US and EU original pressings steadily going up (from next to none into literally dozens (here, ebay, elsewhere) - the prices asked by sellers stay as if nothing happened. Absurd, not to say pitiful. I'm sure that many still want to pay a couple of hundred $$ for this still semi rare beauty, but I doubt many, if indeed any, would ever want to pay the commonly asked ridiculous prices rangeing way over a thousand. Yikes!! As if this record still just circulate in single digit numbers? It's a rare thing to see nothing happen, or prices going up, after thousands of reissues flows the market! Not to mention that I have not in all the years since I got my own original back in the 90s seen anything but M or NM copies for sale. Again, not sure what that tells you, other than this title is used for speculation and for purposes of greed. Viva la music, I say! If this one ever goes for sale for under $100 I urge everyone to buy an original copy, it's sweet stuff! But since that is not likely to happen - suckers die hard - I suggest WB to flow the market with even more reussues, this album belongs on vinyl and deserves to be played by fans all over the globe. Thank you!

This is my favorite Tom Petty release ever. In fact I like this album so much, that I have requested that the "title track" be played at my funeral. No, I'm not dying, hopefully not anytime soon, nor jumping off a bridge, but I have planned my own funeral arrangements so that my loved ones will not have that burden to deal with. I did all of this when I made out my Will last year. I came into some money unexpectedly and a month later had a car accident that could have killed me. Anyway, "Wildflowers" is the song that is to be played after friends, if they outlive me, are finished speaking good or bad about me. I guess while I'm spilling my inevitable demise at some point as everyone eventually does, I should just tell you the whole service I have planned. My pick for the start of the service is the Jerry Garcia Band's "Palm Sunday" that is looped until the few that will attend are being seated. These two songs are set in stone so to speak. As people are leaving, I'm thinking of REM's upbeat "Near Wild Heaven" as that has always been a favorite song as well. It's also upbeat and less depressing than the others I've considered. Suggestions gladly welcomed for the last song. Will not be a typical church funeral, but more a gathering of friends, spouse, and others. Also will be cremated and my remains scattered over spouses grave as well as some over parents grave. Not trying to be depressing here, it's just that this album is that great. I passed on buying a NM+ vinyl copy not because it was $175, but it was $175 and had a really bad water stain on the cover. The vinyl Lps where a solid Mint condition when viewed under a 200 watt halogen lamp. The dealer said it was unplayed, but I'm just picky as hell, even about cover condition as much as media condition. I hate ring wear and seam splits, but I do unfortunately have some Lps with seam splits. All of my Japanese Lps have their OBI's intact, or I will not buy them. Now, however, I regret passing on the Wildflowers Lp with the water stained cover immensely as this album is steadily going higher in price ever time I find a copy either here on Discogs, or at local vinyl shows that come through Austin a couple times a year. What I would really like is a release of a high resolution download of this album for my home server and my Astell & Kern AK120 High Resolution portable Dual DAC player and my networked Oppo BDP-105D Audiophile multi format player. A file that's at least 24bit/192kHz. That would be awesome.
