This is indeed one surprisingly good early 70's pop-rock album! Lead singer, keyboardist and composer Tony Francis was an expert at his craft: composing songs with catchy melodies and hooks that are bound to fix themselves permanently in your head through repeated listens. Although Squeezer weren't exactly the most consistently top-tier collective of musicians - some of their performances here do come across a bit, um, unpolished - their unique raw-yet-slick sound, defined by the flourishes of Tony's electric piano work, helps make this a very creative and mostly well-arranged collection of catchy ear bugs.Sadly, these four educated young lads from Albuquerque never made it to the big leagues due to lack of marketing and promotion from their label. I wish - oh, how I dearly wish - that they could have been somehow promoted more, and maybe eventually paired up with a producer professional enough to be able to rough out the kinks in their sound and help them gain more recognition. Still, it goes without saying that this album is very decent and I highly recommend it to connoisseurs of 70's pop who like underrated albums that absolutely demand repeated spins.
