Notes

Between 1994 and 2004, Davy Jones showed his mettle as a songwriter, producer, and arranger when he unleashed thirty of his original songs on a trio of albums: JUST FOR THE RECORD (VOL. FOUR) , JUST ME , and JUST ME 2 . Casting a wide style-net and produced with a classic British rock sound, contributors included synthesizer wizard John Bechdel (Fear Factory, Gary Numan), Johnny J. Blair, Tim Breon (David Rose, Olivia Newton-John), Grammy-winning engineer Rusty Richards (Michelle Shocked, Brian Wilson), and members of Davy’s road band.

JUST ME 2 is a sequel to JUST Me, with remixes of prior solo material, newly recorded songs, and covers of "Run To Me" (Bee Gees) and a gospel-rock take of John Farnham's "When All Else Fails."

Edited review of JUST ME 2 by C. Brian Jasper, Goldmine magazine 3/4/2005: "JUST ME 2 is, for the most part, a revisionist version of 2001's JUST ME and serves more as a 'version 2' than it does a 'volume 2.' However, this is not a bad thing; it's just something you should know first off. Jones remixes eight tracks from JUST ME and adds two others from 1996's JUST FOR THE RECORD. "The tracks all benefit from additional tweaking...the new sequencing of the tracks and the added punch in the control room make it a delight...What's new to the mix are three nice recordings: A cover of The Bee Gee's 'Run to Me' (added, perhaps, as a personal tribute to the late Maurice Gibb), an acoustic Jones original with close harmonies called 'Leavin' it up to You," and a sterling cover of John Farnham's spiritual, 'When All Else Fails,' a song that Jones has been performing in concert for years but has just gotten down to the business of recording. "Johnny Blair's gospel production is authentic and brings this song to life in a way fans have not heard before. Jones voice is in a higher register here and sounds best when pushed a little, as in this tune... "As for other noteworthies...check out the timeless sentiment of 'Hurry Up Slow Down,'...'You're in my Heart' (sounds like a hot rainy day set to music), the reggae stumble of 'If Only For One Moment in Time," and the AC ballad 'It's Just a Matter of Time.'"
