Wow this does not sound bad at all. I wonder what source was used for this? Maybe the original Fontana or WWA masters from '74-'75? Because this sounds great. Exceptional clarity and separation with each instrument shining through in beautiful high definition. Drums awesome, bass awesome, guitar awesome, everything sounds clean and clear, stereo image on point. I was totally expecting this release to suck but it's pretty damn good. The sound is a little sterile, very polished, losing some of the rawness of the original tracks but that's not a bad thing. The tracks here have a nice warm feeling to them while still retaining a well-defined, powerful sound. Dynamics might be hindered a bit but the songs still sound great. Ozzy's voice is ever-present and balanced well with the instrumentation (no harsh highs like some of the Sabbath reissues I've heard). Doesn't sound compressed, muddy or distorted. Somehow they managed to make this a decent record. Pressing quality is also good, no surface noise at all, no clicks/pops, centered and flat which is astonishing given that this was probably pressed at Rainbo (there is an edge warp that doesn't affect play). Overall tho, excellent sound on this compilation, great songs, great sound... would recommend. 9/10.
