Notes

Fully Laminated Cover

Recorded and manufactured by N.V. BOVEMA/EMI, Holland.

On the backcover:
"We started this album with a kid missing his frontteeth. We end the record with a crowd, however they screamed too loud for what we offered them. Believe us or not the bagpipes in SCOTCH BALLAD are played by one guitar, RON MEYJES, with a salute to our unstable soundengineer: MAARTEN PROOST. He is in balance now!"

This is not the classic Brainbox line up from 1968 - 1971. What happened? Jan Akkerman had already left the group to form Focus with Thijs van Leer. He was replaced with Rudy de Queljoe. A good choice. Many thought that Akkerman leaving was the death blow but the group soldiered on and released a handful of great singles, most of which became hits. When the group returned from a foreign tour they were hurdled into a car and to singer Kaz Lux's surprise, who expected to be brought home to his wife and child, the car went the opposite direction. It turned out that the manager had booked them for a Dutch tour and expected the group to comply. Strained by the recent foreign tour and enraged by his manager's decision to book them for another tour without some kind of a break Kaz Lux left the group on that same day. The rest of the group were also on the brink of a nervous breakdown and decided that Lux's leaving was the final straw and the group broke up.The manager then, in some Fleetwood Mac-ish ploy avant la lettre, auditioned some musicians and made them tour The Netherlands under the guise of Brainbox. He even managed to squeeze out a record deal. Hence this CD.This CD has nothing to do with Jan Akkerman. It has nothing to do with Kaz Lux. Save your money for the real thing!
