By our fourth release it shoudn’t be too hard to talk about an album. But now that Owen Temple Quartet has entrusted us with the release of «Rot in the Sun», it appears that we have our work cut out for us. However thrilled we could have been by the band members’ other ac vi es (No Guts No Glory, Bad Chickens, Rodéo Massacre...), it soon became obvious that «Rot in the Sun» was a mysterious record, one with a powerful iden ty. This last album spits out a thick richness and contagious darkness, with urges reminiscent of the Gun Club and Chrome Cranks, a Movie Star Junkies-esque fever with Nick Cave’s ceremonial tone. «Rot in the Sun» is one of those albums whose theme and atmosphere just won’t go away. It conveys a feeling of des- truc on, the clarion call to a ba le that will spare no musical en ty. Owen Temple Quartet insist here on their subtlety and power, a gripping, vibrant, lively, power.

Pour ce e 4ème sor e sur Casbah Records, nous devrions normalement avoir une plus forte aisance pour vous parler de ce nouveau disque que nous décidons de défendre. Cependant, alors que Owen Temple Quartet nous con e la précieuse sor e de « Rot In The Sun », la tâche semble moins évidente. Convaincus facilement par les anciennes forma ons des membres d’Owen Temple (No Guts No Glory, Bad Chickens, Rodéo Mas- sacre...), nous avons vite compris aux premières intona ons que « Rot In The Sun », al- lait être un disque mystérieux, à l’iden té solide. Entre les pulsions du Gun Club, des Chrome Cranks, la èvre des Movie Star Junkies, et le ton cérémonial de Nick Cave, ce nou- vel album possède une richesse palpable et une noirceur contagieuse. « Rot In The Sun » a la par cularité d’être un de ces albums dont le thème et l’ambiance ne vous lâchent pas. On pense à une certaine destruc on, au clairon d’une n de bataille sonore dont au- cune famille musicale n’est sor e indemne. Owen Temple Quartet marque au fer rouge sa sub lité et sa puissance, une puissance qui vous ent en haleine, vibrante, vivante.
