Anderson East walked right over my heart in same manner that James Hunter did a few years back ... and I hope he’s still thrilling me with his soulful laced and haunting rock n’ roll blues for years to come.As you might expect from an artist recording his album at the legendary and infamous FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, he goes down easy, and like Van Morrison, takes you all the way with lowdown ballads that could roll on endlessly, along with mildly swaggering blues that will have you entranced, mesmerized, and hanging onto his every word. There’s nothing effected or put on here, this is the real deal, as real as Eddie Floyd was when he sang “Knock On Wood,” or Otis Redding, when he was “Sittin’ On The Dock Of The Bay.” I fully realize that I’ve dropped some serious names here, and that’s something I rarely do, so when I do, you best believe it’s true.Of course it certainly helps to find him in the company of bassist Brian Allen, Chris Powell, and producer David Cobb, but that just shows you that the likes of myself are not the only ones who believe in the authentic nature of Anderson East. With that being said, if you’ve got a heart that's beating beneath your shirt, please find your way to this outing, it’s guaranteed to please.Review by Jenell Kesler
