If I need to explain who Mick Jones is you shouldn't be listening to the release. Tony James is another story. He played with Gen X and Sigue Sigue Sputnik to name a few. Gone is his futuristic look from his SSS days. Now he looks like an aging Pete Townsend (how's that for repetition?). His and Mick's new group, Carbon/Silicon, doesn't sound anything like The Who though. A flier for the album says "A Twist Of Modern". While this isn't exactly true, the old, punk farts (and l say that all due respect) can still rock. I say it isn't true because we've heard it from Mr. Jones all before. Quite frankly, I don't know why we stopped hearing it in the first place. (B.A.D.s "It A Jungle Out There" was ahead of its time. Shit that whole F-Punk record is dope.)It took me seeing the Lemmy documentary to find out Carbon/Silicon existed. I'm glad I researched further. The Last Post is an awesome album. If you're at all into rock history, you have to consider who else is playing on the thing. It's not the first time Mick's played with a Sputnik-er. Nor is it the first go 'round with EZ either. Can anyone name the others?Anyone...anyone...anyone...Upon first listen the following occurred to me:You can almost see the city rockers on "The Whole Truth."The Mescaleros would have been proud to call "Caesar's Palace" their own.The innocent child has grown up to "Tell It Like It Is".Otis Wilbury has nothing on "War on Culture".Mick has earned the right to say "What The Fuck" the same John Lydon has earned the right to dose on mushrooms at this point in his career.Depeche Mode wish they the really had the blues. Like I said, we've heard all of this from Mick before. But if your a fan of his, download this record. MPFree indeed!
