Weird rock, but good, not so hard to listen to. One punk track on this record, played in a Ramonesy way, but still slightly weird. But this record is well worth having. 3/5

Androlhala

Punishment of Luxury were highly unfashionable at the time, their mix of muscular funk with punk, crazy changes in time signature, virtuosity and theatricality went down like a deflated balloon when it should have exploded like a bomb. Listen to this album and you will hear Franz Ferdinand, Don Caballero, Battles... but this is 1979 and each of these bands have made entire albums based on just ONE of these Punishment of Luxury songs. Angry, tight, funky, weird, essential. This is a fine album that can only achieve the plaudits that it deserves NOW with the amazing power of hindsight... there are more original ideas here than almost any album I can think of from this period and they put most current bands to shame. Awww....This music is the genius of men displaced from time.
