The absolute pinnacle of what might be termed the 'experimental new wave' of UK Lovers Rock, this tune – a sumptuous arrangement which borrows liberally from decades of soul and boogie, but retains an ultra-modern sheen thanks to an achingly sensitive arrangement and aerated chord progressions. It all fits together so beautifully that even the trickily escalating time signature towards the end sounds effortless and as natural as breathing. If I were a rich man, I'd see to it that this tune were given a full release, and the promotion which it so richly deserves. Simply outstanding.
