Notes

Band started out as the Mellow Fellows and then changed their name to The Contenders in 1963. From northern Illinois, they were one of the first "white" groups to record at Chess Records. While at Chess, they did 2 songs written by Bob Rubin - "Please Keep the Beatles in England" and "Go Cassius Go". Original members of the group included Ed Duffy, Jim Carroll, Bob Krieger, Nick Caccamo, Ray Krejci and Bob Hurka. Krieger and Duffy are deceased. After that group, another version of the Contenders was started in 1965 which changed its name to Graffiti, Unltd. That group is still performing. Bob Hurka left it in 1998 and is still performing more than at anytime in his life as part of a duo called Vocalpoint. You can hear samples on their website - www.ourvocalpoint.weebly.com.
