It is not mentioned, but this record came with a pamphlet describing Tony Schwartz's methods and the city scenes he recorded here. I just happened to find this at a second hand thrift shop and picked it up out of curiositiy. It's an amazing audio snap shot of New York in 1959. A real treasure to own.
Vaua
I am not a New Yorker but this must be one of the most uplifting records ever made. Mr Schwartz' art lies in simply allowing the city to speak for itself; from the cab driver's monologue on how to cure the city's traffic problems to the sleepy blues guitarist with one broken string. The sound is extraordinary, the art is simply sublime.
