really BOP, HARD BOP ?

In terms of jazz - no - music - it doesn't get any better.

I just love how this was the deep house of the 60s! Now give me more because I love it!

I have uploaded images of my labels and covers, and noted the difference in the lack of the word "CBS" in the arrow at the top of my labels. That and the matrix differences. Any idea on these two issues? Is this in fact this same pressing?

I just type "Columbia CS8192" for example and choose the article under bsnpubs and there you'll see all the details. the 6-eye without the cbs and has deep grooves was made 1958-1961. while those with cbs marks i think was 1961-62.

Interestingly I don't see a Promo entry for this record, only the Mono version. I just recently purchased an original 1959 Demo copy of "Time Out". Has the non-CBS label with "Stereo Fidelity on top".

Also, peruse other Brubeck or other Columbia releases and see it is consistent also (barring incorrect entries):http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=5232684 [promo from 1958, no "CBS"]http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=1376990 [1959, no "CBS"]

I found it in a few places, here are two that I bookmarked.http://ronpenndorf.com/labelography2.htmlAnd see section 5b. I realize this is the Masterworks imprint, but it is consistent with what I find here:http://londonjazzcollector.wordpress.com/record-labels-guide/columbia-records/columbia-us-labels/And look at other 6-eye releases from those years, one example from 1962 *with* the CBS inside the arrows: http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=454357and from: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showpost.php?p=7073593&postcount=9Even among "six-eye" mono labels there were variations. From 1955 until about 1958, the rim print at bottom read:® "COLUMBIA" (Lp), MARCAS REG. [walking eye] T. M. MADE IN U. S. A.Then after that (which came around the time stereo was first introduced) until the label design change in 1962, the rim print on monos read:® "COLUMBIA" (Lp), [walking eye] MARCAS REG. MADE IN U. S. A.In 1961, a small "CBS" began showing up right below the serif "COLUMBIA" on top. "CBS" was initially set in Futura Medium, but by the last months of the six-eye they switched to Venus Medium (the same font used on stereo six-eyes). The add-on of "CBS" dovetailed with the switchover in Columbia's pressing plants from their 2.6875" "deep groove" to a pressing ring measuring 2.703125" diameter (and also, the start-up of their Pitman, NJ plant, which began some operation in October 1960 and was fully operational by May 1961).This principle also applied to the cool grey-label Masterworks line as well, except the way it was punctuated calls for its own listing.- 1955-c. '58:® "COLUMBIA", "MASTERWORKS", (Lp), MARCAS REG. [walking eye] T. M. MADE IN U. S. A.- c. 1958-62:® "COLUMBIA", "MASTERWORKS", (Lp), [walking eye] MARCAS REG. MADE IN U. S. A.The shade of grey in the 1955-62 "six-eye" era was considerably different from (and more blueish than) the grey used on 1962-65 and 1965-70 "two-eye" Masterworks labels, which in turn differed from the warm grey used after the 1970 label design change.

Just wondering where you got the information that the CBS logo was not present until '61? I've been searching around trying to find some info on it to verify the version which I own.

I was told to make a new entry, so did so here Time Out. This entry here has the Labels with STEREO FIDELITY on the top of the label and "CBS" in the middle (which first appeared in 1961), which makes it doubtful this entry is a first pressing 2 years later, but I will leave that to the OP to remove or edit, or verify to the contrary.

I have your version of the record as well. It was purchased under the impression that it was the 1st pressing (as you stated in your entry) so it would be helpful to verify this as well.
