The individual pieces of the album have no descriptive titles. The music is completely improvised and portrays or represents nothing other than itself as music. Nothing was pre-determined - mood, structure, rhythm, tonality, harmony, etc. First Avenue´s procedure is to simply begin! Their music had its origins in dance music rather than concert music and they were responsible for the music in the "Music/Dance Ensemble of the American Dance Company", which was later re-named "Skinner Releasing". In this ensemble, both the music and the dance were improvised and on an equal basis. Performing in this context, you will start to 'see' sounds and 'hear' space. Enjoy the music !
