All tracks, with the exception of the four portraits, recorded on April 27 1970, at National Recording Studio, New York.

The four portraits were recorded on May 13 197, at National Recording Studio, New York.
At the recording session of the four portraits, Cat Anderson replaced Money Johnson on trumpet and Chuck Connors replaced Dave Taylor on bass trombone.
Furthermore, Johnny Hodges' alto saxophone is absent on the four portraits, as Hodges died on May 11, two days before the recording.

The record is in a plastic bag inner sleeve.
