Notes

UK pressing of UK & US release. Although only credited on front sleeve and for the part of music (e.g. Chorus, Break, intro etc.), there is nothing to suggest the performers play any specific instrument per track, though is most likely to be their main instrument on all performances and some are noted in the sleeve notes.

Tracks titles on sleeve are split into songs only. on label and LP, they are split into further bands on side 2.

A similar version exists with the same picture frame design but with brown frame and yellow background The Metronome All-Star Bands* - The Metronome All-Star Bands

I have the Us release of this LP and and after reading the sleeve notes I was able to extrapolate more detail information.Track B2 and B3 (Overtime) are the same performers the only difference is that B2 is the shorter version and was recorded for a 10 inch release while B3 uses the same performers the only difference being it includes a trumpet battle between Gillespie, Miles Davis and "Fats" Navarro and was recorded for the 12 inch version. The same is true for Tracks B4 and B5 (Victory Ball) that being track B5 is longer to allow for more solo's. I believe in using the primary instruments of each musicians on all the other tracks rather then list them as credits without instruments. Your comments on my thoughts!
