The first quality of any good band through time is to be able renewing itself instead of repeating the same ideas on and on. Post Image have this quality. I don't know for sure if the title was chosen on purpose but the fact is that with "Impulsion" a new era begins, a new impulse is brought forth: the introduction of programmed sequences and electro elements! Previously keyboardless, the band now calls for one - Frédéric Feugas - who still is part of the inventory in 2017. Another (I)mpulse - and who knows maybe a premeditated pun? - would be the legendary label behind John Coltrane !! The band is not afraid of presenting a 6' cover of "A Love Supreme" with 2007 glasses on! I guess some might get a cough crisis! In any case, the electro approach is rather marked by subtlety than mammuth prints and that has always been one of the band's best qualities! They also unite past with present, revisiting a tune (Double Image) that was already presented on the '2000 album "Roots". With "Impulsion" Post Image has shifted focus, but gradually, allowing this way to still be felt as they were ... before! The band has a long experience and great intuition, they know what to change and what to keep so don't be afraid, you'll sail safely, discovering maybe new winds and speeds!
