https://www.discogs.com/forum/thread/726314 Discogs discussion thread "does PVC damage your records"? And the answer is obviously YES, but the industry seems to have never bothered with it.

Both sides are good versions of what I consider one of the earliest Punk songs, but the damn sleeve fog kind of ruins it.
Love Me
my copy hardly has any fog on it at all, just a few finger print size foggy spots.
Fek
Is this the same sleeve they use on all of these Side by Side releases or is it just this particular sleeve that damages the record?
Benn
i just received a copy of this as well and it suffers from the same issue, I also have a copy of the Run DMC side by side: https://www.discogs.com/Run-DMC-Carolina-Chocolate-Drops-You-Be-Illin/release/3547787and it has the same issue as well... I had gotten the Run DMC in 2012 and was shocked to see the way it looked, I was equally shocked to get this today and find it has the same issue.. what a bummer that they cant/wont change the sleeves they use.

These plastic sleeves are notorious for destroying records. The industry has used them for years and continues to do so. They know that the plastic literally destroys the record - they must know, yet they continue to do so. Yet another RSD "limited edition" / record industry epic failure. I just checked my never removed from sleeve copy and it is toast. All the sheen is gone. Plastic residue all over the playing surface. I would not even venture to put in on a turn table to check the sound. i respect my needles too much - and this coming from a guy who routinely plays trashed G+ Jamaican presses.....
Snake Rocking
Same here, and seems to have the same kind of issue with other side by side releases, particularly this one : http://www.discogs.com/Donny-Hathaway-Ceelo-Green-This-Christmas/release/4071437 wich became nearly unreadable, sadly...So it seems to be the plastic sleeve!
