Brilliant. Monie sounds as fresh and relevant on this jam - still her best work - today as she did when it was first released. And her back and forth ad-lib rapping at the end of the song is incredible as she creates what is almost a second rhythm track - breakbeat at that - by rapping at a different pace than the pace the primary rhythm track (the drum loops) is moving at. Hard to put into writing the genius of this song but once you hear it you'll know what I'm talking about. It's the hook you can't quite define but catches you in the end.
