I'm afraid that despite Howard King overseeing the remastering, the original sounds better. The drum track is turned WAY up in the mix on the remaster, the synths are turned way down, and the sound is basically a lot less "live"-sounding than the original vinyl. Gone is the echo effect and much of the panning. The tracks from the 1984 vinyl posted on YouTube manage to sound better--the remaster is so sterile it can be said to be almost hermetically sealed. I think once I have new carbon-ceramic Brembos on my car I'm going to just splurge for one of the few vinyl copies floating around, even if the Rams Horn issue. It's just about worth the price.

I agree re. the remaster quality - not good at all. Have you heard the 2008 remaster by PTG? Apparently it's a different job, would be good to hear if it was significantly different/better...
