From liner notes:

2005 seemed to be the year of the break-ups for punk bands from the late 90s/early millennium punk era. That included my band the Naked Midgets. During this time, I began writing some solo stuff. In 2008, I picked two of those songs and decided to record them.

I wanted to go by the name "Chuck" to put it under but there was already a few bands going by that name. This included one band from Portage. I recorded “Stevie Y” and “Our Star in the Sky”. These tracks were recorded in two sessions, one in Dakota Tipi and one in Portage. They were recorded by local hip-hop artist Vibez.

Stevie Y: I was looking for something to write about. I read an article about some solo stuff Rivers Cuomo was working on. He was writing a song about the U.S. National Soccer team. Being a sports fan I decided to write something similar. I decided to write a song about my favourite hockey player Steve Yzerman.

Our Star in the Sky: Kind of like a love song. I was listening to a lot of the Ataris at the time. You can maybe hear some of that influence in there. First time I ever personally wrote a guitar solo for a song. It’s not quite Jimi Hendrix, but I like it.
