Powerful acoustic folk music, ostensibly neofolk but tangibly wilder. Compelling and dynamic, at times the overall feeling is quite calm while at others distinctly tragic. Very alive and unpretentious. Driving acoustic guitars evocative of black metal lay the foundation for haunting viola melodies and feral banjo, along with austere vocal harmonies, to create an intense and dark atmosphere that is ultimately lacking from much of this genre. The listener is swept away into primeval forests while the world burns as embers at the horizon. Quite a treasure.
