The smokey renditions of well-worn folk favorites on this French-issued LP have a completely unparalleled vibe(delivery) which is bare and sultry yet carefully subtle. The feeling that is evoked from the impossibly rich texture of her voice is a deep and quite unique experience. The musical accompaniment is spare but spot on, including beautiful wooden flute on her take of "Jimmy Whalen" Her versions of "Jane, Jane" and "Rising of the Moon" will stop you dead in your tracks.
