By the time this album was released in 1961, Johnny Cash had long-since left Sun Records for greener pastures. The album is therefore, a compilation of songs Cash recorded while still under contract with Sun—from his earliest recordings in December 1954 to his final session in July 1958. This is a classic collection from one of the most imposing and influential figures in country music. His deep, resonant baritone and spare, percussive guitar style will never be duplicated.
