This is the most thoughtfully produced record from paul d. miller. the beatles had the "white album", a mix of concepts, interests and experiences the group had combined with revolutionary recording techniques, and paul d. miller has "riddim warfare". a combination of drum n bass, hip hop and jazz, with intelligent and poetic contributions from mc's kool keith, organized konfusion and killah priest. drum soloes, upright bass, guitar, and some turntables, pushing his ability to blur sampling, live performance and production skills into cohesive and balanced tracks each different from the previous. the production quality is very suitable, relying on his dj skills and musicianship he creates an organic quality that is almost nonexistant in hip hop or techno these days. the vinyl version excludes a few tracks that are on the cd version, possibly due to time restraints, but i get the feeling that paul put some effort into getting the tracklisting just right for both releases. giving the vinyl more value to dj's, and the cd being better suited for at home listening.
