This is a 'grandiose' 12inch, in the primary sense of the word : music not necessarily made to dance 2, but more panoramic, almost baroque, focusing on telling a story of the future, in Dan Curtin's grand interpretation of the Detroit techno tradition. On a dancefloor perspective (and as in many of DC's tunes in general, Purveyors Of Fine Funk aside - the man was never renowned for 'keeping it simple'), "Greengirl" and "Voices From Another Age" are too complex, full of microbreaks and groove ruptures, and perhaps lacking a phat bass, to be really efficient.But on a musical aspect, these two tunes are powerful and evocative cyber visions, very melodic, evolutive and daring, from a time (first half of the 90s) when telling a story within a track was very important (in a way, these could be considered as an uptempo equivalent to Reload/Link, B12, Black Dog et al electronic odysseys produced in the UK at the same time).In other words : beautiful techno music here.
