"Flange Stereo" is basically just a loop sampled from VDT's "The Rise" (Container Records, 1991) with added FX and percussion. Yet it's a perfect example in how to accomplish a lot with an extremely limited toolbox - and it's nearly 25 years old. Blows all post-2K minimal schminimal ping pong microwave tech house out the water.* Edited to point out that it's in fact NOT a sample, as clarified by one of the people involved - it just happens to sound remarkably similar.

Hi Kompressor ! This loop dont come from "The Rise" we dont used any sample on this trax. The acid sound come from one TB-303 !The effect "Flange stereo" - The name of the trax - Is coming from the TB injected in a Yamaha SPX 1000 Multi-Effects Processor. All the rhythms are provided from a Roland 909 programmed by Frederik ! The trax will be recorded in "real time" by Remy, Frederik and myself: Frederik at the 303 & 909, me at the effects box and Remy at the final Mix on a Mackie mixer...

The flange and panning on the title track are superb. Pretty minimal, yet extremely powerful, this is a truly magnificent slice of techno music that was built for a good club sound system. WARNING - if you decide to listen to this through good quality closed-cup headphones I strongly advise sitting down as the pan/flange can seriously affect your balance - this is not a joke - try it.
