Clouddead's self-titled collection of EPs move from one soundscape to another, with the aimlessness of "Apt. A" floating amongst plaintive woodwinds, even as it continues to shift. A haze consumes "And All You Can Do Is Laugh" even as it brings a role call of dead presidents. "I Promise Never To Get Paint On My Glasses Again" brings in a jazz bass, while "JimmyBreeze" gets more playful with a child-like perkiness. "Cloud Dead Number Five" goes more shiny, until "Bike" comes in to reverse the vocals until it's almost a hymn (at least, until the tropical elegy for the dog comes in). Thoroughly intriguing.

This is one of my favorite hip-hop albums of all time. The best way I can describe it to imagine a couple of college kids getting together and reciting abstract poetry over Boards of Canada B Sides. Except, that makes it sound lame, when it's really the most un-lame thing in the world. It's truly a unique album and an incredible experience all the way through.

This is what happens when you combine Dose One, Odd Nosdam, and Why? from the Anticon roster. You have a beautiful cataclysm. The blending of ambience, beats, and lyrical eloquence and through it all you never lose focus. I sometimes play this album to help me sleep because it soothes me. I highly reccomend this piece of work. Any fans of Dose will especially love this.
