Notes
Limited to 200 copies. The duo’s João Filipe/João Guimarães first release it’s the result of a single and intense improvisational recording session. The two parts of this record explore a meditative and abstract soundscape in which a two voice dialogue with time and silence takes part. Groping around the fringes of free jazz and contemporary music, the piece Ancestral is a long suite, fragmentary and crepuscular, of saxophone and drums, whereas the second part, entitled The crack in space, proceeds the duo’s sound excursion, through the introduction of electronics, towards a broken minimalism, restrained and suffocated in the same breathing space where this sound evolves and to which the recording, mixing and post-production work of Manuel dos Reis adds up definition and amplitude. In this edition, the record is complemented by a meta-fiction, wrote by Manuel João Neto out of the echoes and debris of this music. The artwork and design, by Micaela Amaral, dilates visually the effect of devastation implosive vertigo proposed by the work of the duo João Filipe/João Guimarães.
