The brainchild of Portuguese producers Rui Da Silva and To Pereira bridges the gap between London (Rui’s new home) and his partners’ Mediterranean base. With fellow Lisbonites Maria Joao (on vocals) and Mario Laginha (piano) the quartet have been recording since the early ‘90s. Of the two tracks featured here ‘Saris E Capolanas’ is taken from thei 1997 opus ‘Cor’ and reworked by Da Silva and Pereira into a sun-kissed 12-minute deep house excursion that matches some beautiful acoustic guitar flurries with Joao’s eerie and quite exquisite voice – think ‘Love & Happiness’ (Indian Ocean) meets Raul Orellana. The second cut, ‘Mujan’ sounds like the original demo of Chocolate Puma’s recent hit in a soundclash with Arabic chants; all very ethnic; all very good. Original and highly refreshing.
