It has been interesting watching the sound of Pellarin change since the 2002 release "Tangible Abstractions". Though Tangible Abstractions was an incredible feat in itself, I'm hoping Lars P. sticks with the latter, more dubby soundscapes evident in this "Athen" release. Don't let the short number of tracks fool you, there are many LONG tracks clocking in at about 9 to 11 minutes. There are nice minimal atmospheric pieces here similar to Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project, but laced with a touch of more activity closer to Basic Channel material. Highly recommend!
