Miguel Migs returns, and this time, he's looking OUTSIDE THE SKYLINE. The warmth comes from the outset with the silky smooth "Life (Migs Intro Dub)," although the original version that follows later in the album can't hold a candle to it. "Tonight" slows things down with a sultry vocal performance from Meshell Ndegeocello, while ""Close Your Eyes" has a lighter touch with the horns. Lisa Shaw also put in two appearances, on the mellow "Breakdown" and more upbeat ""Lose Control." Indeed, Migs knows how to use vocalists to their best ability: classic disco diva Evelyn 'Champagne' King gets her funk on with "Everybody," while Aya, who usually leaves me cold, acquits herself on "The Distance." Bebel Gilberto brings a slinky Brazilian flavor to "Zuzu," and German soul man Georg Levin tackles "Getaway." And while nothing it quite as strong as the opening track, it's still a nice trip through sensual San Francisco house.
