i like the tracks on this one (especially 5 b), but i gotta say, it just doesnt fit the Alien rain series. its just too normal and clean sounding for that. the tracks miss the whole "weird and alien" feel the other releases have. should have been released under another alias imo.

I might be in the minority here, but this one is pretty naff to be honest. That's just my two pennies' worth, but Milton Bradley successfully captured the imagination of plenty listeners, resuscitating the acid techno aesthetic in the best way possible. The first four releases were all great in their own right: be it twisted, funky, banging or experimental. Always with a firm focus on the dance floors. Dirty dance floor business through and through Plenty moods and plenty ways to sneak a 303 laden tune into your set. This one, however, sees the Berlin producer thin on ideas. This is like acid techno on bread and water. Pretty generic presets and banal usage of the little silver box. Where on the previous releases he displayed enough skill to rub shoulder with some of the style's more prominent figures, this time around, it's a pretty two dimensional effort, with pale knob tweaking and moderate, if not hastily put together beats. I'd say this is for die hard Alien Rain completists only. I would definitely recommend getting any of the previous vinyls of the series first, with a slight emphasis on the second and the third one. This is a lukewarm effort that will predominantly sell on the account of the strength of its predecessors.

I dont nescessarily agree with you, but this is a great review. I would like to hear your opinion on the Acid Reign 12", which is definitely my favorite alongside AR II.
