quality hiphop.. the West Coast had its own unique twist to what was happening in NYC in the early 80s, they incorporated more funk into the jams along with the 808. together with the scratching and lyrics this is hiphop at its finest.. Oh yeah and they battled the legendary Majestic Crew for those who dont know. Thanks JDC records for this gem.

Run out etchings, as above, should read: Matrix / Runout (Side A etchings): JDC-0041-A s-13568 -RS- L-20383Matrix / Runout (Side B etchings): JDC-0041-B s-13569 -RS- L-20383-XAnything else is a later repress. Another key detail is the lining up of the 2 T's in 'THE' & 'THE', perfectly placed in the curve of the label outer edge & lining up the vertical bodies of the 2 T's in a straight line. Keep em peeled if buying. As for the music- 'Fresh Mess' & 'Dub' are perhaps the most talked about, for good reason, however 'We Are The Knights' is a stellar electro- rap joint & one of my faves to boot. Clean, tight production (quite unlike 'Techno-Scratch!), fresh scratching, great flow & an ill vocoder. Cream.

Another fine early west coast hip hop record! You can see the influence of P-Funk that is prominent in the genre.

First heard this in March 1985 and it blew me away. There is nothing else like it. If was great to find the sample years later - GET OFF YOUR ASS AND JAM - By Funkadelic from 1975. The drum programming is unique, the scratching is wild and the B Side is insane. This 12" sits next to my Reckless 12"

There were alot of great electro records released around this time, but if i was forced to pick out one tune as the best, then it would be this one. "Fresh mess"-(jam your radio) is a frantic piece of electro genius. The bassline is prominant throughout the track & a cascade of scratching cuts formed the basis of the track. But for me it's the beat that makes this track stand-out above most releases. The 808 drum program is running riot all over it, with it's snare & handclap blasting out, & that lovely nasal ticking rimshot complete with a very nice synth-line halfway through , makes this an unforgettable track. Quality electro - Enjoy.

probably the most insane electro-record ever...it is completely nuts, oldschool scratching from mars, crazy beats and FUNNY AS HELL! if you don't got it, go get it, seriously!
