A maniacally shifting, ever transforming, landscape of noise and tech driven beats. At once grimy & abrasive, yet clean, and in a crisp psychedelic tone. In this release Download seem to take the term "Industrial music" literally. A cacophony of machines and worn belts struggling to operation with much angst, then coming to a wheezing & banging halt. A digital undercurrent snaps and spits through the length of the transmission. The album breathes, and the men behind the switches occasionally push through the storm to welcome, threaten, or enlighten the end user. "The eyes of Stanley Pain" is loosely controlled chaos, and a prime expression of the genre at it's peak. Without question a five star record.

This is my Fav album by Download, takes me back to my teenage days. Still and always be the best piece of music to listen to whilst high on LSD. You should give it a try sometime :)

Been there several times buddy. Even though this wasn't really skinny puppy... to me THIS was the last real skinny puppy album. This is the direction I thought they'd go rather than what they did with The Process. And I hate to say it, but I can't stand anything they've done since. Everything that was great about their music seems to be gone these days.

we're put into hyperdrive at the beginning of suni c and launched into a controlled chaos that's really completely out of this world. by the end of spybey's psyched out rant, which sounds like something from a motivational speaking tour, your going to be pretty psyched for the greatest thing you've ever heard......and you might be a tad disappointed, depending on what you want. see, that first track is a tease....with the second track, the record launches into something more structured that seems primarily designed for the dance floor and it stays that way for the next few tracks. this is yet another trick......and it goes on this way for a while, weaving through everything from twisted synthpop to pure noise to blatant techno, reaching climaxes with the epic collision, the brandon lee dedicated outafter and the pure noise of fire this ground, which key seems to have some kind of deep attachment to as reminiscent of the time he got to jam with throbbing gristle.furnace seemed to have a purpose; this doesn't. so, what do you want from your music? do you want it to start somewhere with an x on the ground and end somewhere with a y, taking the scenic route perhaps? do you want it to stumble around on 'shrooms for weeks, unclear if it even left the couch?so, you could describe this as a "tour de force" or an "opus" if you want....i'd prefer to be more realistic: it's a couple of electronic geniuses at a point in their career where they were a little bit lost, so instead of focusing their energies on a specific thing, they've let loose and explored. lesser peons would create a record like confield; these guys managed to put something together that's worth listening to......but you'd better not walk into this looking for one thing, because if you do you'll be disappointed. it comes highly recommended, but only to those with exceptionally diverse and abstract tastes in electronic music. excluding the odds-'n'ends key release music for cats, this is also notable as the last significantly "industrial" thing that key & co. would produce.
