Throw her heart
What can be said about Siren Song? Well, from a personal point of view, up to the moment I heard this track I'd always had Source Direct's amazing tune, Snake Style (http://www.discogs.com/release/21078), as my all time favourite d&b tune. It held the crown for 10 years. Then "Siren" came along and stole it. If, like me, you yearn for the legendary night called Speed from late 94 to 96 where Bukem, Fabio and many others took d&b to a new height, then you need to check this out. Some folk have dubbed these years and "the years of the breaks" - and for good reason. Drum n bass has never been as inventive and continually morphing as it did back then. Then d&b took a bit of a turn for the worst (IMHO only of course!) Then a wave of producers picked up this fallen beauty in 2004/5 and started producing tunes that leaned on this wonderful period but gave in a kick in to the noughties (ie bang up to date) Siren Song embodies all that was and is great about drum n bass. It's part alien soundscapes, part lush, part beautiful, part amazing drums, part deep deep bass, part dirty... well, in a nutshell: AMAZING If you like your d&b noisey then probably best avoid. But if you like your d&b served up with so much class do yourself a favour and grab a copy...although (at the time of writing) just one copy is for sale via Discogs reseller channels... and it's £50 ($100US) - which kind of goes to prove how good this tune is. I dont know of (m)any d&b tunes that are worth this amount. I don't know that many tunes that would command this level of price after only 2 years since its release *Can you tell I'm gushing? ;p*
