In my opinion, this is Baseck at his best. Just about every mix he's put out is light years ahead of any other dj out there, but this one... I don't know, it's just more improvisational. He really mashes the shit out of every record he drops on here, making up his own rhythms as he goes and splicing in some beautiful soundscapes over it all. Track 3 is a perfect example of this... starts off with an orchestral sounding track that reminds me of the Barnes Shoots Elias theme from the movie Platoon. He then proceeds to weave several other tracks in and out of it, transforming the hell out of everything the whole time. This guy doesn't just play records, he really does use the turntable as an instrument and if you want to check out the best example him doing just that, this is the set I'd recommend. CD was pretty limited I think, but this set was posted up at baseck.com and might still be.
