Watermelon is on its own level of future funk. Untouchable, without any doubt. The vocal bassline, the weird pads, the clinical tight af drums. I can appreciate the flip for sure, the big band stabs are a nice touch. Great drums and all, but its just not the timeless monstrosity that watermelon is.
Puchock
only Watermelon.

I still remember walking into my local record shop (Bitin back in Gravesend, UK) back in 99 and seeing a new delivery arrive, and a fresh full artwork copy of 'Watermelon' being pulled out. My face just lit up with joy as i had been after this since i had first heard it! This was one of the best feelings of going into a record shop and picking up a tune you were desperately after, the great memories of that era. Both tunes are absolutely amazing and showcase the talent these two dnb pioneers possessed from an early age. A must have record for any dnb fan

One of the best drum and bass 12 ever released

No exaggeration, this is as classic as it gets and this is a poster track for the 1999 era of non-cheesy, dark, cerebral drum & bass. Both tracks are different enough to add up to a varied proposition. "Sick Note" is a pure weed-injected wall tearer; and my favourite "Watermelon" is a totally fucked up, ganking track that just vomits shit all over your brain, with real twisted vibes, brilliant and generous arrangement, and perfect, dirty synths. AWWW YEEEEYUH!!!As with "Gas mask" / "Bacteria", I think there was confusion as to which tune was which due to printing fuck ups.

It's not very often that you get 2 wicked tracks that are just as good as each other on a 12" single. Both have very deep warping basslines accompanied with hard hitting drums. DJ Craze did a mind-blowing beat juggle with "Watermelon" in the DMC World Championships in 2000, which he won by a country mile, using the warping bassline to full effect.
