I'll echo edzillion below and say that "Dubplate Pressure" really is a special track. Coming in a little late on the jump up scene, being released in '96, at a time when most UK producers had gone full steam into a more hip hop influenced, simpler style of jump up, this track smashed the dances and reminded us all how good a nicely chopped amen paired with deep sub stabs and great toasting could sound. A sort of "look back" at just the right time. Absolutely one of my all time top ten tracks. And the flip is not to be ignored either..."The Game" is a proper jump up stepper, which gave the UK crew a run for their money. Hard-marching beats coupled with snarling synth bass stabs are the name of the game on this one. A great flip side, as it doesn't try to match the style of the A side, instead bringing it's own banging flavour to the table.

Oh it did, it showed the world that UK was not the only place. It helped expose one of the largest jungle scenes in the world. Those days in the T Dot Toronto were amazing with tens of thousands showing up for raves before the internet was able to be used to promote as it is these days.Underground and word of mouth promotions. If it wasn't for these guys creating and blowing up the scene in North America the UK guys would never of been as successful as they were.

Dub Plate Pressure is probably my favourite Jungle tune of all time; it's like a culmination of many years and many Junglists all working toward a common end. Pressed in '96 it still has the rawness of the early jungle sound while avoiding the technological/sound quality limitations of early producers. This is a tune that could be called EPIC without hyperbole - it really only has a couple of sounds/samples. There is a 2 second James Brown guitar riff, two or three vocal samples of MC GQ at his best, a throbbing bass and a non-amen break of some kind; even with the minimal palette of samples to work from Mystical Influence builds one of the most complex song structures you will ever hear in this genre with continual builds & breaks, constantly changing patterns around the core bass & sample:'dub ... plate ... pressure ... run it'Yes. Selectah.
