On "Talent Hoover" Lucky & Easy manages to update the mid-nineties "electronic listening music" sound of The Black Dog (when Plaid were still members) with consistently pleasing invention and imagination. Reportedly Lucky & Easy is the same artist who records as Pub (who has been described as "Basic Channel meets Plaid on acid"); "Talent Hoover" leans closer to Plaid with a more song-oriented approach, rather than the liquid ambient techno epics of Pub. Recognizable in lineage but deftly sidestepping charges of being derivative, Lucky & Easy has crafted an album that rewards (despite a couple weak tracks) repeated listens.
