This was the first Tiesto mix that I found way back when. While I don't listen to much trance anymore, I feel I can always come back to this mix. My only gripe is that Sosa - The Wave is edited right after the huge breakdown. I felt they should have just let it be and fade out, oh well.

Not quite as good as I expected on first listen but I also felt the same way about Volume 6 the first listen tooand that one eventually wound up being my favorite in the series. This one is funny for me in the sense that it's tracklist and mix is cleverly stealthy in how good it is overall. It's one of those albums that takes more than one listen to really appreciate the subtle genius behind it'sstructure and it's beautifully smooth and lives up to the "Deep Forest" subtitle very well.

The review stated above is just right. However I`d like to add that this FP-episode is a huge improvement in production quality compared to FP-6. Listen to the way the emotions fit right in the mix! Excellent job by Tiesto, it remains a mistery why he is not credited in the booklet..! Highlights include Greece 2000 and the surprising mixing combination of track 15 and SOSA-The wave. One of the first releales of Hammock Brothers (where Tiesto teams up with Rolank Kramer) also sets the standard for years to come. When going to trance heaven, this cd will be played in the arrivals lounge.

After Forbidden Paradise 6 went to be a huge underground succes in the Netherlands, the tone was set. More melodious trance lines, less hard hitting beats. This compilation was the last one in the Forbidden Paradise series to be done by DJ Tiësto, who had by then gained quite some success in the, then still underground, trancescene of the Netherlands. Tiësto quit his job at Basic Beat and focussed on his own Magik compilations series, lifting dutch trance to a completely different level.
