Being my first Rock Sound magazine i brought this was one of the two freebies that was given away with it (the other being New Device's Takin' Over Album Promo). Usually with these free CD's i listen to them and they are at times full of absolute toss, but this release proves me wrong... it's got so many great new fresh tracks from bands you haven't heard of before (Twin Atlantic) and those that have been around for a while (Megadeth). This release is so good it includes genre's that im not such a fan of like Post-Hardcore with music that i actually love! These guys at Rock Sound really know how to put a free compilation together, and the fact they do it for every issue they release is just amazing...although i felt that SoundCheck 128 was not up to par as 127 was. But still Rock Sounds's Soundchecks are the best and most efficient (for your wallet) way to find new, fresh music without traipsing through masses of crap on places such as CDBaby. This compilation is really diverse as well, we've got Post-Hardcore, Metal, Country, Pop Punk and Hard Rock all in 15 tracks. This release is, as most British Londoner's would say, Quality - or for the young hipsters, this release is "Well Sick"Best tracks, i mean the BEST are:Thrice - All The World Is MadEverytime I Die - Wanderlust (Don't usually like this stuff)Sights & Sounds - NeighboursTwin Atlantic - What Is Light? What Is Laughter? (I am soon to buy their Mini-Album Vivarium thanks to this track)All Time Low - Lost In Stereo (The best track IMO from their new album)Memphis May Fire - North Atlantic Vs. North Carolina (Again i don't usually like this genre)Donots - Pick Up The Pieces (Its catchy, ended up singing the chorus for days after)Megadeth - Headcrusher (Just awesome)Sadly it starts off with Bring Me The Horizon...who i think are crap and over hyped and ends in similar fashion but its the meat that counts right...not the fat, that has no taste! If you can get your hands on a copy of this, then i tell you - if you like all rock music, and are a versatile listener then you will not be disappointed.
