Just a superb collection of jazz influenced D&B. Police State and Encephalia , jazz 163 and Deep Blue C are the highlights. Very high quality release!

A Really nice collection of jazz step, most on a more mellow vibe...some have those alex reece/ early dj krust jazzy sounds, others have gone more original and complicated approaches. Elementz of noise's track has a gorgeous reverbed vocal which sounds angelic, but the bassline is down and dirty, with subtle stoned jazz elements added. Native Bass's One Man Dead starts with a sinister sample 'you've killed you. The one man who could have saved you is deaaaaaad!", and then a funky moody bassline starts with eerie reverbed synths, complicated drum patterns (including the amen breaks snares chopped subtly and added every now and then, as a sax is later introduced and a heavier bassline riff. The stand out track for me though is the Native Bass remix of T-Power's 'Police State' which starts off with a spacy bukem-esque synth intro which then uses a sinsiter sample from George Lucas's THX film, "If you feel you are not properly sedated, call 344844 immediately, failure to do so may result in prosecution for criminal drug evasion" as the beat comes in gradually along with it. Then the lovely deep jungle bass comes in which reminds me of PFM stuff. Lots of space jazz sounds, changing basslines (at one point the bass sounds like a shy fx jump-up track) added metallic percussion, and eerie vocals synths make this a rare obscure chilled classic, which would have fit into the 'intelligent' (a term i hate) category aswell as jazz step. Niiiicccee!
