Just caught their show last night at Numbers Night Club in Houston TX, and Berlin f/Terri Nunn is still amazing! From their opening song "The Masquerade" until their closing track Sex (I'm A...) (which sounds great live), their show was spot on. Terri and the band had the best time with our Htown crowd and played like it was a full stadium. Selections from their new release were all welcomed and let's hope I get to play them in my club very soon and more to come from them. Great job Berlin and Terri Nunn!

A real sense of energy & intent permetates this new album from the 80's New Wave pioneers Berlin. They embrace a modern sound, which is equal Trance and House while keeping track of their original 80's synth vibe.Opening track Animal shows that Terri Nunn is still on top form vocally, and her lyrics are as sensual as ever. The majority of tracks follow an upbeat dance vibe, which is of no surprise given Terri's appreciation of modern dance music. As you can expect, Terri does not scrimp on lyrical content. Her own personal lyrics are intense and you feel every single word she sings.Terri has not just a great ear for music, but her lyrics are very much intricate too. It's quite hard to pick a song out in particular given the catchiness of all the songs on offer, even the obligatory ballads are enjoyable.I am a real hardcore Berlin fan and I will be the first to say if Terri falls below the high standard set by John Crawford, but with Animal she has made a quite simply fantastic album of fun pop.Personally I would love John to come out of retirement and team up with Terri again, as that is where I think she excels best. But as the head of Berlin without John, Terri is doing a fantastic job and Animal is an LP which I will enjoy for many years to come.
