The material on this cassette features some amazing techno, the likes of which I have not heard since the early 1990’s. This cassette has totally got my attention and I want to explore more releases from this artist. I don’t know if this release comes in any other format but this would be a good time to invest in a cassette player or even one of those USB cassette players that convert audio tapes in digital files as this release along with many “under the radar” cassette only releases that are starting to pop up at various records stores. No info is provided on who is behind this release as the cover has a mysterious shrouded figure standing under a moon holding out their hands. The cassette, itself, is a black mysterious monolith that I can foresee on some alien planet with primates dancing around it throwing a bone into the air. “Windowpane” opens the cassette taking me back to the very early 1990’s when techno music was evolving into a more serious sound and leaving behind all the rave fluff in the dust. Listening to “Body Language” reminds me of B-12 “Time Tourist” release. It pleases me to hear this kind of sound again after so many years of shelving all my original Warp records that all been shelved along with Apollo / R&S releases. “Brown” begins the cassette b-side with an eerie drone sound over what sounds like a tin cup percussion. Track 2 reminds of a soundtrack score from some random 80’s low budget sci-fi / horror film (but in a good way…..think John Carpenter). The final track, “Timed Movement Through Space”, closes the cassette nicely reminding me a bit of old school Tangerine Dream building up to a nice pounding beat. I look forward to more releases from this artist and record label.
