A1 Dirty Mind the title track is pop infused proto house. It's a four to the floor beat, with a simple guitar riff. Made in 1980 it still sounds modern today. The rest of A side is commercial and pleasant but not memorable. The real action is on the B side. There's almost no gaps in between these tracks and it's the medium of an album at it's best. B1 Uptown is the king. An oft-sampled beast of a track. Uptown is glamorous disco funk reinvented for the burgeoning new wave audience. It speaks to moving up in class which was the tone of the decade. Peak hour at any house party, easily the strongest on the album. Feeds right into B2 Head which is a filthy and amazing beat pounder. Aaron-Carl probably loved this song. B3 Sister is disturbing but thankfully short and B4 Partyup is an interesting rebellous punk funk hybrid.
