More Light is a welcome shock to the ears ... extreme music for extreme urgent times, zooming in out of the sun like a fighter jet barrel-rolling on overdrive, engines screaming, and from the cockpit, a gloved wave and smile from a pilot who’s sonically fueled Primal Scream filled headphones cause him to punch into hyperdrive and vanish on a storm of dust, flying at treetop level to parts unknown. It’s a sprawling record moving like quick-silver, balanced, unusual, complex, haunting, frenetic, and owning every element in the atmosphere it touches, sounding important and vital ... though it struck me, that this is first and last a grouping of songs that need to be experience live. The band seems to have once again taken a giant step forward, crossing and embracing other genres, reminding me instantly of early Pink Floyd, and the effect The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper had on us all. There’s a distant eerie jazz vibe of sorts that rides just below the surface, entering at just the right stage, harking back memories of Spirit’s first release, sounding laid back, yet nearly demanding that the volume be turned up and up and up ... until the music doesn’t just flow through the air, it flows through the listener, bouncing along at a calculated hectic pace filled with optimism and sophisticated wide-eyed wonder; and even when slowed down, dripping with emotion, it smothers you in sound. You're gonna be treated to updated 60's garage psych, 90's Spiritualized, 00's Back Angels, and it's all laced together like "Sometime Anywhere" by The Church ... yet it's pure Primal Scream at their very best.

One of the best Scream albums since XTMNTR. Vinyl package is pretty good, sounds great. cd included in a plastic slip case, nothing fancy but nothing needed i guess.
